JO RIDGE KELLEY fine art

landscape painting framed and hanging behind vase of flowers

Jo Ridge Kelley paintings hang in private, public and corporate collections around the world. Throughout her career, her work has been published in books and magazines and has earned various awards and commendations.

“I enjoy working with designers and directly with homeowners to create “one-of-a-kind oil paintings” that bring the outside in. Working large, allows the viewer to step right into the landscape

and explore a bit of my fantasy while captivated by the natural world. One can escape and explore the serene Atlantic coastline or experience the view from a mountaintop trail under a breathtaking sky!”

“When possible, I prefer to paint outside and love experiencing the awakening of all my senses “en plein air” with brush to canvas. Capturing the essence and mood of a scene at that moment in time by the water or on a mountain top, is what I’m particularly drawn to. I like to paint expressively, free and confident, using brush and palette knife work, my fingers and various unique, exploratory tools. The lush foreground textures one can create in oils is absolutely magical and keeps the eye engaged and

meandering about.”

“I am immensely grateful that I have had the opportunity to create custom paintings for my clients throughout the country. Bringing a vision to life that fits perfectly into a home or office space, while working together and still honoring my unique creative style, has been an unforgettable experience time and time again.”

The first step in your commission process is to determine the size of the painting that would work best in the room in which you wish to enjoy it. Then the fun begins finding images that both inspire you and speak to your vision.

You may find inspiration from your backyard view or a special place that holds treasured memories. There may be paintings of mine that speak to you that can be used resourcefully. You may enjoy a monochromatic painting filled with subtle beauty.

My custom paintings take approximately 4-8 weeks to create depending on the size and complexity of the piece. Beginning with a sketch, basic design concept and color palette swatches, the process is shared via emails and each step is approved before I continue on.

Studio visits are welcomed and encouraged during the journey! Installation can be arranged once your painting is varnished and framed. I work closely with the best: Masterworks Frames, Village Framer and Blackbird Frame & Art.
